Location: Luye, Taitung County, Taiwan
Altitude: 250 m
Harvest date: Spring 2024, April 8
Profile: Red Oolong is a new type of Oolong tea. It’s the result of an experiment mixing oolong and black tea processing. The tea is rolled and fermented like a black tea, but has the traditional oolong-processing steps of "killing the green" and roasting. Red Oolong has a natural honey flavor, a ripened longan fruit aroma and a silky body that is nectar-like. Try the Cold Brew method, you'll be surprised!

Served at its best:
Water: 85° - 90°
Traditional way: 1 g of tea leaves per 30 ml - 2 min
Up to 4 infusions with the same leaves
Western way: 4,5 g per 300 ml - 4 min
Cold Brew: 4 g per 300 ml - 6 hours

The Red Oolong tea we selected for you is coming from Luye, a rural township in Taitung County. Luye is surrounded by mountains, with a clear river streaming through. They use the water to irrigate the tea. The mountainous fogs and mists forms out the best circumstance for tea growing.

This passionate family already lives here for more than 60 years. They use eco-friendly ways to farm. This attracts the Jacobiasca formosana (leafhopper) to suck the phloem juices of the tea, leaving the tea with a natural honey flavor, a ripened longan fruit aroma and a silky body that is nectar-like.
Chien and his family already won several awards, and their tea have been entitled by the local agricultural associations as “Queen of Red Oolong”.
